First Rites of Summer 2019

Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
May 11 - 12th, 2019

 

NOTE: There are significant alterations to the First Rites of Summer (May 11 – 12th) tournament. We are committed to provide a safe and fun beach volleyball environment, so please consider the following items as you make your decision to register for the tournament:

  • On-line pre registration deadline will be May 8th at 10PMfor adults and May 3rd at 10PM for Juniors.
  • The 12U and 16U Jrs divisions (USAV Sanctioned and Qualifier) will play on Saturday (May 11th).
  • The 14U and 18U Jrs divisions (USAV Sanctioned and Qualifier) will play on Sunday
  • Juniors - please bring a completed 2019 Player Medical Release Form to check-in
  • There will be no "walk-up" registration for Juniors
  • There are limited spots in every division and we cannot guarantee any spaces during “walk-up” registration on tournament day.
  • We will set up a waiting list for those not able to get a spot during pre-registration and do our best to accommodate everyone who wants to play.
  • Except for very special situations, we will not allow any changes to rosters or division selection once pre-registration is closed.

CHRVA Sanctioned Juniors 12U/16U CHRVA Regional Qualifier 12U/16U
MAV is hosting two sanctioned USAV juniors events at the First Rites of Summer Tournament.
1. A CHRVA Regional Qualifier whose top finishers will qualify for the Regional Championships.
2. Our normal sanctioned CHRVA doubles tournament. The competition at this event will be one notch lower than the Regional Qualifier.
Please take care during registration so that you get the tournament you desire.

Directions

From DC, drive East on US 50 to State Route 404.
Then East on State Rte 404 to State Rte 16.
Then East on State Route 16 to Delaware and to State Rte 1.
Southeast on State Route 1 to Rehoboth Avenue.
Turn left and drive 'til you smell the ocean.

From Philadelphia, travel West on I-95 to Delaware.
Then SW on I-95 to I-495.
Drive SW on I-495 to I-295.
Then East on I-295 to US 13 followed by Southeast on US 13 to US 113.
Finally South on US 113 to State Rte 1 and get to Rehoboth Avenue.
Turn left and drive 'til you smell the ocean.

Tournament Tips

Check-in is from 7:45 to 8:30AM.

Play starts at 9:00 AM.

Please plan on being at the tourney until dusk.

All players must be present to sign the waiver at the time of check-in.

Tournament format: Pool play with the top two teams advancing to playoffs for divisions with more than one net.

No playoffs for divisions with only one net.

Bring your own ball

Bring plenty of food and drinks (water or sports drinks).

Sunscreen is a must.

Chairs and blankets can make in-between match time more comfy and umbrellas, tents or canopies can shield you from the hot sun.
